The feel of this place is incredible. Filled with narrow passageways lined with spiritual jewelry shops, silk shops, indian food stalls, dogs and killer mopeds going way too fast. India's prime minister Modi bought 400 buildings in this labyrinth and knocked them down to build a temple. He also banned cows. The former sucks. The latter makes life easier. It's hard to get past a cow down one of these "roads."
It was excruciatingly hot until 4pm when the monsoon came with a severe thunderstorm. I'll see if I can post the video later; it was wild. We spent the morning people watching, (this place was buzzing at 630am), the afternoon resting in our cool rooms, and the evening meeting a beautiful Indian family staying at our hotel and walking the streets. Varanassi is one of the oldest cities in the world (some say THE oldest), and one of the holiest. You can feel the special.
